About the Project
«The Gaelic Athletic Association is a 32 county sporting and cultural organisation that has a presence on all five continents.
It is Ireland's largest sporting organisation and is celebrated as one of the great amateur sporting associations in the world today.» –
Ireland in 2015 is very different from what it was even 5 years ago,
regarding the current climate of financial situations and quality of life in general. There has been a mass emigration of young Irish men and women from the country in the last few years
in search of better opportunities and employment, and the country has suffered immensely as a direct result of this.
This series of photographs and interviews was a personal exploration into the world of the
Gaelic Games to find out how recent national conditions have affected local clubs. I interviewed a number
of people, including a Dutch man who has recently taken up the sports, to see how the world of GAA stands in 2015.
